PLANO, TEXAS – October 9, 2008 – Dr Pepper Snapple Group president and CEO Larry Young is one of five soft drink industry icons being inducted this month into the Beverage World Soft Drink Hall of Fame. This biennial honor recognizes soft drink executives for their service, accomplishments and industry leadership over the course of their careers.
“In his more than three decades in the industry, Larry has earned the respect, confidence and admiration of bottlers, customers, suppliers, competitors, employees and shareholders through his common-sense leadership style and the passion he has for this business,” said Jeff Cioletti, Editor in Chief of Beverage World Magazine. “We could not be more pleased to recognize him with this well-deserved award.”
Mr. Young was named president and CEO in October 2007 after serving as president and chief operating officer for the company’s Bottling Group division and led the spinoff of Dr Pepper Snapple Group from Cadbury Schweppes in May 2008.
He joined the company in April 2006 through its full acquisition of Dr Pepper/Seven UP Bottling Group, where he had been president and CEO since 2005. As head of operations, he played a central role in helping to create a new business model for the fully integrated beverage company.
Mr. Young previously served more than 25 years in the Pepsi system, most recently with PepsiAmericas and before that with Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers, where he began on a route truck and worked his way to president and chief operating officer.
He will be recognized during a special reception at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas on October 20, 2008, during the annual InterBev Conference.
